The Kender Academy logo has a few inspirations. One of the main influences is Rebecca’s Mother, Kathleen. Looking back on my dance journey, my Mother has been and still is my biggest supporter. She drove me to every dance lesson and took me to every dance competition. Even when she was unable to accompany me overseas, she would keep up with me enthusiastically through the phone. When I started dancing professionally, my Mother came to see me at a show during every tour. She is always super excited, and supportive of everything I do with Irish dancing, no matter how small. She always wants to participate and help me in my new adventure. I designed a Celtic knot skull for our logo because my Mother and I love celebrating Halloween, and she has an ever-growing skull collection. When I see skulls, it reminds me of my mother. I would not be where I am today without her support. She is as much a part of the Kender Academy of Irish Dance as I am. |
- In Celtic Culture, the skull was the sacred home of the soul; the seat of life, wisdom, and divinity; and a powerful symbol of transformation.
- The image of a skull represents courage and fearlessness when it comes to overcoming challenges. It can remind us that we are capable of conquering our fears and overcoming danger.
- Throughout history, warriors have used skulls to represent courage and strength.
- Skulls were once seen as talismans that protected against evil and negativity.
- The Celtic Cross is incorporated in the crown to connect to the Irish Catholic Faith. The circle represents the sun, eternity, and life. The four arms of the cross stand for faith, continuity, spiritual wholeness, and heritage.
